I studied medicine in Bern and have worked as assistant physician in Switzerland and abroad. In 1986, I began working in the field of (medical) informatics, turning one of my hobbies into my profession. My main interest was in semantics and I developed programs for the semantic interpretation of free texts in the field of medicine.
Together with Hugo Mosimann and Maurus Duelli I founded the company Semfinder AG which established the Begriffsmoleküle (concept molecules) method that lies at the heart of its software for free-text interpretation and medical coding. In 2016 we sold the company to 3M.
I am currently exploring the possibilities of non-classical logic and, in particular, a form of dynamic logic, for which we are writing a software program (LDC).
I am convinced that sciences, humanities and arts should be seen as one.
